Why I cook

My Reason
Growing up my mother would always cook us homecooked meals. We would always sit down for dinner together and talk about our days or whatever was happening. She would cook for guests. She would always have parties, and she was known for always having good food. I did not realize how much I took this for granted until I got to college. I always had someone to cook for me, but living on my own I had to figure out how to cook for myself. When I fell in love, the same passion my mom had for feeding others was very apparent in me. I started inviting people over so I could cook for them. I would bring treats to parties. I wanted to share my creations with others. In the beginning not all of them were really good, but as I got better and better the feeling only gets stronger. It sounds cliche to say, but making people happy through food makes me happy. Whether that’s through a big kitchen, a small kitchen, or out of my house, I love to see how much food brings people together. Sometimes the work is hard but to see people smile when they take a bite of your food is one of the best feelings in the world. I’ve built friendships through food that I’ll carry forever. I want to keep growing so I can continue sharing how good food can really be.
